How the crown works, what it costs, and what you can list. The rules and terms win if anything here conflicts.
What is CrownUp?
A public leaderboard where rank is what you pay. The #1 spot is the crown: pay more than the current holder and it's yours, until someone pays more. There are no votes, no reviews and no algorithm.
What does the crown cost?
The current holder's total plus $5. The price is always shown live at the top of every board, and it updates the moment someone bids.
What happens if I'm dethroned?
You keep your full total and drop to #2 (or wherever your total now ranks). If you're watching, CrownUp tells you right away and shows what it costs to take the crown back. Raising only charges the difference.
What is a counter-bid?
A bid that lands while you are deciding. If the crown price moves while your checkout is open, you'll see the new price and can match it before paying — you never pay for a crown you won't get without knowing.
What's the difference between All-time, Today and Daily?
One payment counts everywhere. All-time adds up everything a listing ever paid. Today only counts since midnight UTC and resets daily. Daily archives every UTC day since August 28, 2026, each with its own crown holder.
Can I raise my rank later?
Yes. Enter the same URL or @handle with a higher amount. Checkout only charges the difference between your new and current total.
Do categories have their own crowns?
Yes. Every category has its own All-time and Today boards, so a smaller budget can still wear a crown.
Are payments refundable?
No. Payments are final. Being outbid, a Today board resetting at midnight, or fewer clicks than you hoped for do not create a refund. See the Terms.
What can I list?
A product website or an X @handle you own or represent. Chat and invite links, adult content and deceptive listings are not allowed. Full details are in the Rules.
How is CrownUp different from launch directories?
There's no queue, no hunter and no upvotes. Rank is only what you pay, and every change of #1 is public in the Crown history.
